LIUNA’s commitment to recruit and train as many Virginia residents as possible to work on the Atlantic Coast Pipeline continues this week as they announce a new partnership deal with the Virginia College system. Both organizations signed a memorandum outlining the details of the commitment, not only will this deal mean that members of the local community are going to receive middle class wages but also many Health benefits.

Dennis Martire, Vice President and Regional Manager of LIUNA Mid-Atlantic who took lead on the collaboration has said ““Through our partnership with Virginia’s community colleges, we intend to hire well over half of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline workforce from those who live in nearby communities” These workers will be training across six of Virginia’s community colleges.

This project will help reduce their state’s carbon emissions and bring affordable, dependable energy to Virginia while preparing workers for career opportunities.
