In what is being marked as a historic day for the U.S. energy industry and the natural gas industry, Dominion Energy shipped out its first LNG cargo from the Cove Point export terminal in Maryland. Cove Point is only the second LNG export facility built in the nation.

The Cove Point launch is just another piece to the U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas export boom that is expected to continue. A handful of additional export terminals are under construction and more than a dozen are being proposed. The U.S. is slated to become the world’s greatest LNG exporter in five years.
